------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rueifang, a coastal Dist that developed along with the mining industry, is located in northern New Taipei City.  Mining was an important industry in Rueifang in the early 20th century.  Gold was mined in Jioufen and Jinguashih, while coal was mined in Houtong.  After the mining sources dried up, the Dist reverted to relative obscurity until the release of a series of movies and advertisements highlighting Jioufen, Junguashih and Houtong.
Today, these towns attract visitors due to their historic charm, the tranquility of mountains, and spectacular sweeping views of the sea.

13 Levels Relic
Built along the hillside in Lian-dong-wan, the Taijin Ore Dressing Company was founded in 1933. This coal mining plant was known as “Thirteen Levels” by the miners because it comprises of 13 different levels. Although it is now an abandoned, the plant is still a popular site for singers to shoot music videos. From the top, the abandoned plant offers a brilliant view of the Yin-Yang Sea where the water of the upper stream displays a different color due to heavy metal traces in the water.

Crown Prince Chalet
The Crown Prince Chalet was built in 1922 with elaborate Japanese-influenced wooden carvings. Not a single nail was used in constructing this building; the entire structure was built using tenon joints that display the tremendous strength and quality of artistic craftmanship. This stylish Japanese-style hotel has a charming interior layout that culminates with the tranquil and peaceful atmosphere of a Japanese-style garden.
