LIAO,MU-CHENG is the founder of this Jioufen’s hundred-year store. He was the student of Jioufen Elementary School for the first year. He worked as the cook at a Japanese-owned club in the colonial period. After that, he come back to Jioufen and open the first restaurant here. At that time, the traditional cake “RI-KOU-SU”was served as snack at banquets and as offerings at worships.

At first it wasn’t called “RI-KOU-SU”(Crispy) but “SU-JIAO”(Crispy Dumpling). And its shape was more like a dumpling instead of being round. The dumpling shaped snack looked like Chinese silver ingot used as money and god ingot so the locals used it as offerings when worshipping the Gods. Also, it get the name“RI-KOU-SU” because of its crispy taste. Now the hundred-year store is owned by generations from the second to the forth. They mainly provide customers with RI-KOU-SU, Sugar bar, Ginger candy, Meat bun, Grass cake, Taro cake, Chicken roll, Vegetable bun and Taro ball.
